Health Insights uses your genetics, combined with your age, sex and race (ethnicity), to give personal risk estimates. It does not take your health history into account.
For each condition, our risk estimate assumes that you don’t already have the condition and haven’t had it in the past. If you have been diagnosed with any of the conditions included in Health Insights, this information isn’t taken into account in calculating your result. You may still find your result helpful in understanding your genetic predisposition for the condition.
In the laboratory, we analyze your DNA using a tool called a genotyping array. In very rare cases, an individual’s health history can affect the genotyping accuracy. Examples include certain cancers, allogeneic bone marrow transplant, blood transfusions within 7 days of testing, and chemotherapy within 120 days of testing.
