What are the conditions you test for?

The conditions included in Health Insights are: type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, low bone density (osteopenia), atrial fibrillation, and either prostate cancer or breast cancer.

People who report their sex assigned at birth as male get a prostate cancer result. People who report their sex assigned at birth as female get a breast cancer result.

More about the conditions:

Atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (also called Afib) is a problem with your heartbeat. If it’s not treated, it can lead to blood clots, stroke and other heart problems.

Breast cancer

Breast cancer develops when cells in the breast grow out of control. It is one of the most common cancers in the US.

Cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular disease affects the heart and blood vessels. It can cause conditions like heart attack and stroke.

High blood pressure

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is when the pressure of blood flowing through your blood vessels is higher than normal over a long period of time. It can damage your blood vessels and lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney disease.

High LDL cholesterol

Cholesterol is a fatty substance in your blood. There are different types of cholesterol. LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol is often called bad cholesterol. If you have high levels of LDL cholesterol, it increases your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

Low bone density

Low bone density (also called osteopenia) is a condition where your bones are weaker than normal. If you have low bone density, you are more likely to break a bone.

Prostate cancer

The prostate gland is just below the bladder. Prostate cancer develops when cells in the prostate gland grow out of control. It is one of the most common cancers in the US.

Type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes causes high levels of sugar in the blood. This can lead to health issues like heart disease, vision loss and kidney disease.
